Re: PCB Design Software and Small Qty Manufacturing

Most hobbyists use Eagle its attraction is it wide adoption it is free to do 2 layer board upto 100 x 80 https://cadsoft.io/pricing/ I find the interface and limits annoying. I use Diptrace which has a nicer interface and I love the routing (still a bit old fashioned though). The limit is done by pi...

You might need to give more detail, what servo are you using and have you plugged in a power supply to the servo board?

Re: Simple Pi Zero Audio Output

I have played with those USB audio cards and some of them play fine, I have had some dodgy ones too though they do funny things like play double speed! or crackle. Search ebay for the USB PCM2704 its a bit more expensive but the sound is great! e.g http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5V-USB-Powered-PCM2704-MI...

Hey, I did it as a Kickstarter it is here I will be making it available soon https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/795234054/analog-expander-cap-for-raspberry-pi-zero there is also one on this cap https://www.bareconductive.com/news/introducing-the-touch-board-pi-cap/ other options is you can use one...

Re: Screen Overlay

Have you seen this Arduino solution? http://nootropicdesign.com/ve/#library It uses the lm1881 to extact the sync and makes the overlay, potentially you could do the same with the Pi but I am not sure if you could get the same kind timing precision. It is all worked out already so you could actually...

Re: Analogue Cap - Get audio VGA and Composite out of GPIO

Will you be doing a version with surface mount components? I find them neater to work with than through-hole bulky things :) Yes I would like to, it would probably also have an EEPROM that HAT standard specifies, but I doubt It would be worth making it a kit due to the number of people willing to t...

Re: Raspberry pi outside

I perhaps dont think you need to put holes in it, the heat will dissipate enough through the walls. You might actually find that a dessicant actually brings water into the enclosure if there are holes. for spash proof you can use grommets / glands on the wires and an IPx4 enclosure If you really wan...

Re: Capacitor? 12V power supply for pi + ledstrip

Thats totally fine, the risk is a voltage drop so the pi may turn off if the wire is thin (between the LED connection and the Pi DC converter) but not damage it This is why I was talking about the power supply, if it is rubbish it will drop then overvolt until it stabalises but there is a DC convert...

Re: Capacitor? 12V power supply for pi + ledstrip

I wasn't actually worried about the PSU, the question was aimed at my pi zero, will it survive that fast increase in current draw? Will it be affected in any way? i.e. spikes that burn it up? It won't as you are using an i2c controler there is actually no current from the LED strip going through th...

Re: update python file from remote location

I looked into gitHub, but in order to keep code private I have to subscribe and I don't really want to do that. Git can serve files itself, that is its original job for local collaboration, Github is just an extension to make it an online community. See this instructable http://www.instructables.co...

Re: Capacitor? 12V power supply for pi + ledstrip

1. No people do this all the time, probably the most common thing with micro controllers like Arduino 2. Your PSU will be able to handle it (unless it is poor quality), LED strips are pretty safe there is no kickback 3. If you where having this kind of trouble 100u or more would be best, but usually...

google says omxplayer does not support usb audio. But the results are all 2013. Is this still the case? Yes OMXplayer cannot route through ALSA see this from the author https://github.com/popcornmix/omxplayer/issues/339 you can get audio out of the GPIO pins though, I made this little hat for the z...

Analogue Cap - Get audio VGA and Composite out of GPIO

AV_top_small.jpg hello! I have put together a board to allow you to get VGA, composite RCA and 3.5mm stereo audio out of the Raspberry Pi Zero, I managed to shift around the pins on Gerts VGA666 design so audio can come out too. makes it a neat little box. http://clacktronics.co.uk/2016/VGA_cap.htm...

I havent looped mplayer, you can use `feh` to show an image on the command line OMXplayer will loop your files pretty painlessly. Its not perfect, you will hear a short sound gap but the console will not show. best to get the latest version from here http://omxplayer.sconde.net/ it is improving all ...

If you solder it onto the board it i...

Re: Running a Pi with only 3V3

Hey, I dont really know, but perhaps it is because parts of the chip are not getting the power. If you only power on the 3v3 line that 3v3 cant get to the 5v line which probably feeds the vbat input that is nessesary. look at the compute module powering for clues. https://www.raspberrypi.org/documen...

Re: Setting VGA666 and pwm at same time

So unless you've modified the VGA666 board as well, then 18 & 19 are used. If you want to switch to mode 6 then you need to mod the board and the dtoverlay to reflect the different set of GPIOs. This is what I have done exactly made a prototype, 18 and 19 go to audio the rest are set up per mode 6 ...

Anyway I suggest rotating the part 180, would that be an issue? after that routing was a doddle. Also rotation is not really an option.
