Re: SD Card Benchmarks

The Samsung 16GB EVO microSDHC - UHS-I Card Model code: MB-MP16DA/EU - is supposed to be a newer model of the Samsung 16GB Class 10 Grade 1 48MB/s Micro SDHC Plus (MB-MPAGCAEU). But it certainly does not meet the performance of its predecessor... Why fix things if they aren't broke? Test results for...

Re: SD Card Benchmarks

I think FAT location matters as well since it is optimized in many SD cards, not sure how you change that though, also did you try with a 32K cluster because that seems to be the native write-unit of this particular card ? Not sure if you could also try the page size of 8K. I tried them all. Fat32 ...

Re: SD Card Benchmarks

@guilhermino The SD-card-slot in the Pi is fixed at running at 3.3V, and isn't able to drop down to the 1.8V that UHS1 needs to work. So the Pi is always in non-UHS mode. We should devise another speed test, preferably on the RPi itself to measure the card running at 3.3V in non-UHS mode in order to...

3600 writes per hour when idle

Does an idle Raspbian system performs 3600 writes per hour? The green led on my Raspberry Pi B+ faintly flashes about 60 times a minute when the system is idle. (When I trigger activity like logging in, then the green led flashes brightly.) If these faint flashes represent a write action to the micr...

Frequent faint flashes of green led whilst idle cause SD wea

The constant writes to the microSD card can become a problem quickly. I'm experiencing a similar phenomenon as described above, it seems. The green led faintly flashes about 60 times a minute when the system is idle. (When I trigger activity the green led flashes brightly.) If these faint flashes re...
