Re: How to disable GARP VLAN Registration Protocol on Raspbian Buster

Still no luck in blacklisting the bespoken modules during the start up of the kernel with entries in a file "/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf" :(

The only workaround I've found right now is to use a terminal session and unload the module with the command "sudo modprobe -r 8021q".

How to disable GARP VLAN Registration Protocol on Raspbian Buster

As not required at all for my purposes, I like to disable all modules related to the GARP VLAN Registration Protocol on the Raspberry Pi when running the latest release of Raspbian Buster. Creating a blacklist file " /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-8021q.conf " with the entries: blacklist 8021q blacklist ...

Raspbian Stretch "patch" update for what?

Manually diong the usual Raspbian Stretch OS update with the command " sudo apt update " on the shell prompt. Now, when I ask for the list of updates with the command " sudo apt list -a --upgradable ", I'm getting the following output: Listing... Done patch/oldstable 2.7.5-1+deb9u2 armhf [upgradable...

Re: IRDA0: Set up Serial Port (Psion 5mx)

This is indeed an excellent project to extent the use of Psion 3c and 5 PDAs and its use case with a Raspberry Pi device

To which extent has this been followed up further towards a suitable and stable working integration?

Raspbian Jessie kernel panic after OS packages update

Today, I've done the usual " sudo apt-get update ; sudo apt-get -y upgrade " on an existing Raspberry Pi server with Rasbpian Jessie as the underlying OS and am using it as a NAS box with OMV. Rebooted the device and connected with SSH and after a couple of minutes, I'm getting the following output ...

OK, looks like I have to live with it for now.

Maybe the next kernel release makes the "mousedev" pluggable ;)

Disable or blacklist "mousedev" during startup for headless operation

Just wondering if anybody else ran across this: With the latest April 2018 image update, I'm seeing kernel messages in " /var/log/syslog " pointing out to loading mouse device protocol handlers during the startup of the Raspbian OS. You can interrogate also with the command " dmesg " on the command ...

Since on many deployments of a Raspberry Pi device, I have re-applied on new SD cards flashed Raspbian Stretch the same steps as described with the original post " Raspbian systemd-timesyncd saving system time instead of using fake-hwclock ", and am wondering what could be the use (or even benefit) ...

Re: No Wifi connection to Pi Zero W after Raspbian update

Try adding "scan_ssid=1" in the network section of wpa_supplicant. Adding this option, this time it did do the job as demonstrated with the /var/log/syslog entries: Apr 22 12:23:11 raspberrypi systemd-udevd[104]: Process '/sbin/crda' failed with exit code 249. Re: No Wifi connection to Pi Zero W after Raspbian update

It seems I have a Deja-vu: Just flashed the "2018-03-13-raspbian-stretch-lite.img" image, and my Pi Zero W can boot up and connect to a "hidden" WLAN AP (an AP that does not broadcast its SSID) and everything works fine with the usual " wpa_supplicant.conf " text file with the following similar cont...

i found a workaround/fix for this Problem in another German speaking forum: https://forum-raspberrypi.de/forum/thread/38221-wlan-problem-raspbian-friert-ein/?pageNo=4 . It is assumed there, that the problem occures when the SSID is hidden, not send. If this entry is missing in the /etc/wpa_supplica...

Re: After recent update, Raspbian crashes on Wi-FI access point restart (Pi3, PiZeroW)

Further to the initial report, note that the current version of Raspbian will crash: if there is a Wi-Fi connection and the access point is restarted. if a Wi-Fi connection is lost, then regained (even if the access point is not restarted). (This may occur under difficult radio conditions e.g. wher...

Re: No Wifi connection to Pi Zero W after Raspbian update

If I've followed your diagnosis correctly the fault only occurs when your ssid is hidden - is this correct? In your posted wpa_supplicant.conf you don't have the scan_ssid=1 stanza usually required for such a setup - are you saying that with the previous firmware you connected to a hidden network w...
