Re: h264 streaming to zoneminder

Try running:

Code: Select all

/etc/init.d/uv4l_raspicam start
and see what the output is. Perhaps there is a way to run that in verbose mode too. When I see weird errors like that it could be either the driver module or the hardware(in my case it's a damaged camera, in yours is probably a wrong module).

Re: Rasp-NetTemp

Your SD card fails on boot because you are writing to disk every 5min and eventually the disk fails. The OS keeps running because it is in ram but upon reboot the disk is corrupted and can't boot. You should be writing data to an external USB drive or a remote network server instead.

Rpi Customization Kickstarter for firewall appliance

What would it take to customize the pi to make a good firewall appliance? I know it needs more network interfaces and some kind of cryptographic hardware to make VPN faster. I just saw that we can order custom rpis if we get 3000 or more so I was thinking we could throw up a kickstarter. Would this ...

Re: Raspberry Pi Camera Streaming

Use h264. I use vlc to stream from the pi and then avconv to dump it to disk and serve it up to crtmpserver for online streaming. I get 30fps@720p in a 300kbit stream

Re: Pi as ADSL modem

The reason you can't just get an adsl modulator and add it to the pi is because the NSA has backdoors into all telephone equipment and the backdoors are installed by the manufacturers.

Re: A DIY PoE solution

I have 14 rpis+cameras running on PoE DIY. I use an ATX power supply and a 24V supply. They break down as follows: Short: 16ft 5V direct Long: 100ft 24V stepped down by dc-dc converter The 24V worked for a while and then died on a couple. I think the power supply wasn't providing enough current so I...

Master Chief Helmet

Any suggestions about modding a motorcycle helmet with a Rpi2? I was thinking of making the visor into a HUD, adding speakers next to your ears, a microphone, wifi or 3G, police scanner, gas mask, radar detector, active+passive heating and cooling, Think of it like oculus rift on steroids. Or maybe ...

Lens Recommendation?

Can anybody recommend a good lens for a NoIR board for filming at night with IR illuminators? With the stock lens, I can't get enough light and I think a new lens will help. I've seen many kinds available. I think an auto-iris will help? I've even seen one with auto-iris and IR-cut switch. Any links...

UV4L Text Overlay info needed

Hello everyone! I was wondering if anybody knows how to overlay the current time into the video captured by the uv4l drivers? I can turn on text overlay in uv4l-raspicam.conf and it works.. It pulls from a json text file. It even has a dynamic variable $fps that it shows. So what is the variable for...

You're streaming h264. Zoneminder doesn't handle h264, only mjpeg. I have a hacked version of zoneminder that can record h264 but it can't do motion detection. I had h264 streaming to the original zoneminder and it was doing a conversion to mjpeg and then doing motion detection but it always saved e...

Re: h264 streaming to zoneminder

I found a way to get zoneminder to save h264 directly to disk. There's a fork in the zoneminder source code called "feature-h264-videosave" or something like that.
Edit: I spoke to the devs and they fixed this issue. The latest version of this branch now records h264 to disk.
