"Broken record?" Is your age showing :D or are you a vinyl aficianado (I am both old and use one of my RPis to rip vinyl)? Today's generation may not even know what a broken record sounds like, like, like, like....

Re: Raspberry Pi 3B and 3B+ Headless

The 3B wireless antenna and range is pathetic compared to the 3B+. Distance and obstructions may be at work here. Unless both systems are right next to the AP, it is 'apples and oranges" to compare the two.

Re: Raspberry and Telescope's ,astroimaging

It might require a higher memory version of the 4B and a good sized uSD card because the KDE libraries are required but KStars is in the Debian repos and also in the Raspbian repos. It features telescope control in addition to one of the most complete planetarium programs available. Barring that, it...

I am at a disadvantage as I do not know Morse code, that is the ultimate weak signal communication. That WAS that is the ultimate weak signal communication. Re: Best Raspberry Pi Alternatives 2019

To make a long story short: THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE! RPi or die! There are tons of cheap thingys out there...esp8266 and cousins, nodemcu boards, on and on...the support sucks, especially if you are Linux based. Even blogs/tutorials that are supposedly written for Linux somewhere revert back and refe...

Re: ZX Spectrum emulation on Raspberry

In defense of @Heater, there are way too many posts out there from folks who don't want to do their own research...just want someone to tell them, in pictorial detail, how to do what they want to do. Better yet, just do it for them...for free. Google, Bing, Duck-Duck, Startpage, whatever suits you. ...

Have you tried burning a fresh SD card ? Get it from the "Downloads" heading on this site and use balena Etcher to unzip, burn and verify your card. They don't show a version for RPi but its free for W$, Mac and Linux.

Re: eth0 link is down wlan0 not associated

As pcmanbob said, connection by ethernet is automatic if you have a good cable connected to one of the LAN ports on your router...assuming the router is plugged in to its power source and connected to your ISP. First rule of troubleshooting: "Is it plugged in?". As for wlan0, it will be seen by Rasp...

Re: Why raspbian go offline after few hours or few days?

This has been a sometimes problem for me running a 1B and a zero w online 24/7. The solution for me was a script at https://weworkweplay.com/play/rebooting-the-raspberry-pi-when-it-loses-wireless-connection-wifi/ that uses ping to verify the status of wlan0 and reboots if it is down. It sounds like ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 BCM2711B0 vs Intel Atom x5-z8350

I ran an RPi 3B as a desktop for a while when I despaired of getting proper graphics on the Intel D2700 Atom board I was using but replaced the RPi with an Asrock J3455 board (Atom/Celeron J3455) with 4 Gig. The RPi 4 with 2 or 4 Gig probably blows it off but it would be a perfect headless server bo...

Wow, someone still has a phone line? I have not seen one for ten years. I maintain a POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) line in part as a disaster preparedness tool. In many potential disasters, a POTS line is the very last communications system to fail. Cell towers are only good until their batter...

Getting MHS35 tft display to 480x320 resolultion

I recently bought a Kuman MHS35 (3.5") tft display from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P7TLLRN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to use with my RPi 3. Amazon.com has a wide range of "kits" for Retropi use. Depending on if you are starting from scratch or have other bits on hand, make your choice and pay the price. As you know enough to get online and ask this question, you probably can manage one of the kits. On the other hand, if you have any int...

Re: Looking for Temperature Measurements of Raspberry Pi in Different States/Operations

A closed case is a bad idea for any RPi from the 3B onward. My 3B, even with an open case , would overheat with java and graphics intensive web pages and I would consistently see the little red thermometer in the upper right of the display. That said, I have a B+ running as a pi-hole (headless) in a...

Angled case

I just received a Kuman 3.5" tft display and installed it on my RPi 3B. It is really sharp and works well, including the touch feature, but it has a very narrow viewing angle in both horizontal and vertical planes. I have looked, in vane so far, for an angled display or case for this small display. ...
