MT7610 MediaTek wifi dongle hanging on shutdown

I installed the mt7610-4.14.70-v7-1144.tar.gz from MrEngman wifi drivers at fars-robotics.net driver page for a MediaTek 7610 wifi dongle. On an RPI3 running Raspbian Stretch I got the MediaTek dongle to come up and work. However my router is not assigning the correct address to it. It should be 192...

lost onboard wifi after upgrade to PIXEL

After doing dist-upgrade to the new PIXEL 11/25 image of Raspbian-Jessie-Lite-05-27-2016 the ssh is working but I lost the onboard wifi. iwconfig doesn’t see it yet an external usb wifi dongles seems to work. I tried booting from a previous backup and the onboard wifi worked as it should. I looked a...

Re: UPNP Music and Displaying MPD info on I2C LCD

thagrol Ok more of less got text on the lcd now. As it turns out I have a third-party lcd. the stock hd44780 LCDd driver won't work with this device. What I discovered, there is an hd44780 third-party driver here ( https://github.com/wilberforce/lcdproc/blob/master/hd44780.so ) that works. It requir...

Re: UPNP Music and Displaying MPD info on I2C LCD

I'm using it in a ssh terminal. it's being sent to the console rather than the lcd. when I type sudo LCDd it opens a little curses box on the terminal and then cycles through TIME CPU MEM LOAD NET and when I start the test.py it adds MPD also. I tried both url and local and they both display in the ...

Re: UPNP Music and Displaying MPD info on I2C LCD

I'm new with the LCD display so I'm lost. I think I may have a similar i2c display you have but 20x4 (very generic display. the only markings on the pcb that I can see is 2004A). I copied your script and named it (for lack of imagination) test.py then copied it as mpdctl.py, made the typo correction...

Re: UPNP Music and Displaying MPD info on I2C LCD

Just bought a 20x4 lcd a few days ago with an i2c interface (no switches) similar to the sain smart module. The i2c address is 0x3f. I'm struggling to find a post that will work to display mpd track/title/etc on a Raspberry PI 3 (Raipbian). Most of the how to post don't seem to work. There's usually...

Re: Raspbian's new insanely bad design decision: DHCP Static

so does this mean that i'll have to assign an ip in interfaces if and when i install the 5/10/13 version of raspbian lite? the dhcp server on my router already has pre-assigned ip's programmed that it assigns per the mac add of the device. is that still going to work?

Re: PINN - An enhanced version of NOOBS.

Ok I tried PINN. I'm not getting anywhere with VNC. I think the time out is too short and unless I also put forcetrigger in the recovery.cmdline file so it stops and waits for me to get VNC started it won't work. All I want to do is boot PINN to the rescue system prompt over the serial console which...

assign a specific mac address to a specific wlan interface

I'm having a hard time finding an answer mostly because I don't know the correct google search terms. I don't want to change the mac address of the wifi dongle, I only want to make sure that dongle 1 always comes up assigned to wlan0 and the dongle 2 is assigned to wlan1. The reason being I'm using ...

I had added a push button switch for my RPI to reboot or shutdown without having to have a terminal open.
