Re: Raspberry Pi USB Bluetooth FAIL

Just clarifying- You want the Pi to connect over Bluetooth to a thing, and use that thing as if you want to use it as a com port, right? The Adafruit tutorial for that product ( https://learn.adafruit.com/pibeacon-ibeacon-with-a-raspberry-pi/what-is-ibeacon ) says 'Beacons' are based on Bluetooth Lo...

Or you could set the Pi up as a VNC server. This allows remote control of your Pi over the Internet and only requires installing a few things.

Re: RetroPie has flatlined on me after upgrading - can still

You could always reinstall the OS. Be sure to back up regularly-http://lifehacker.com/how-to-clone-your ... 1261113524-this will make sure your actions won't have an irreversible effect on the pi's software.

Can you connect to the Pi remotely? If the console does not work, try re-loading the disc image on the SD card. If it does, the monitor is probably bad.

What happens if you use the normal config.py? Are the lines at the end of both files the same?

Re: Pi Store does not work

It brings me to the installed page when I click the download button, but shows no sign of actually doing anything. When I use apt-get, I do end up with a software package and the terminal text that shows me stuff is happening. Controlling my Pi remotely, Minecraft ans Sonic Pi do not work, so it is ...

Re: Noobs 1.3.10 add OS offline mode/sdformater size adjustm

To extract the .img disc image, you need Fedora ARM Installer:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_ARM_Installer

Extract the disc image onto an SD card, and pop it in the pi.

Now, your pi is running whatever you extracted onto the card.

Pi Store does not work

I can't download stuff using the Pi Store, only through the terminal. Is there a way to download the free software from the store using the terminal? I am using my pi via VNC, and only my computer can talk to it, if that makes a difference.

I found a Raspberry Pi blog post about it: http://www.raspberrypi.org/turn-your-pi-into-a-low-cost-hd-surveillance-cam/ It looks like a good place to start, introducing the project. However, the motion-detecting part is here: https://medium.com/@Cvrsor/how-to-make-a-diy-home-alarm-system-with-a-rasp...

I use sudo chmod 777 <your file name> for my python ans shell scripts, but that lets every user run the file. You could try 774 instead of 777 to only let root and main user run it. Here is a link I found about chmod that could help: http://rcsg-gsir.imsb-dsgi.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/documents/basic/node28.h...

Best Browser

What is the best browser for the RPi? It looks like there is a divide between Opera, Iceweasel, and Chromium. Which is best, and should I uninstall the other browsers that come with Raspbian Wheezy (Dillo, Epiphany, and NetSurf)?

Re: sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

Did you try reinstalling the OS? That may help if there is a software problem/corrupted files. I looked it up and the internet seems to agree to changing a config file. Yes, it is usually safe to add avoid_safe_mode=1 to config.txt. An exception might be if you are overclocking but other than that, ...
