White balance on v2 camera ?

Hi all, In a room with yellow walls, the section of code below renders the walls the correct colour on the v1 camera. but with the v2 camera the same code attempts to render the walls white. Does anyone know which setting I need to tweak in order to prevent this? with picamera.PiCamera() as camera: ...

Note: for rpi3, you'll need to rpi-update.

Uninstall/reinstall Mathematica?

Rpi3, latest jessie pixel.

I'd like to uninstall Mathematica and then re-install it. Can anyone let me know what the correct commands are to do this?

I tried "sudo apt-get install chromium-browser" but got a message saying the package was missing, has been obsoleted or is only available from another source. Any ideas where I can get it?

Re: Epiphany web-browser -

This cannot work, at least not without a workaround, which has never been tried. While the video is decoded by the GPU, it has to be copied back into the frame buffer in real time to appear inside the window. This does work for medium image sizes, but not for a whole screen. There are other solutio...

Epiphany web-browser -

- prone to randomly crashing back to desktop when playing youtube videos full screen. Operating system is up to date: apt-get update and apt-get upgrade. Pi2 and Pi3 same behaviour. Known issue? Any fixes?

Re: The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Q&A thread

Anyone else experiencing on board audio interference from the onboard Wi-Fi ? Have tried audio through HDMIPI and as well direct from the pi through the 4 pin 3.5mm jack to an amplifier. Same interference.

With a pi2, and with exact same setup - but using a USB WIFI adapter. No problems at all ?

Re: Image quality comparison with alternate lens (wow!)

Are you sure the pi lens isn't the one on the left? The one on the right looks a lot longer than the pi's 3.6mm. I'd guess the one on the right is more like a 6mm+ ?

Either way, can you post the link to the better lens - the one on the left that you used?

Re: Watch the Birdie...

With my fiddlings with the picam - there was a time following some firmware/software upgrades where folk started to mention odd colour casts appearing (if memory serves me) usually towards the center of the image. It's definitely worth trying out the '-st' switch as that appeared to have resolved al...

Re: Watch the Birdie...

I found I was seeing a similar colour cast (although not as pronounced as this) when I switched to a 6mm CS lens.
You could try the '-st' switch: "raspistill -st -o test.jpg" - something to do with recalculating the white balance, it solved the issue for me.

Re: Picamera. Manual control possible?

Thank you Gordon, this has given me another avenue to explore. I've downloaded your programme and will take a good look at it as I'm unfamiliar with subprocesses. I used a thread which worked well for me, but that was to accept keyboard input without having my main loop pause.

Re: Picamera. Manual control possible?

Hi Gordon, I hadn't tried it for -2 stops, +2 stops, but I will now. Thanks for that suggestion. If that does work - I guess I could incorporate the raspistill command into my python program through an os call ?

Kinda along the lines -

Code: Select all

os.system("raspistill -o photo1.jpg")

Re: Picamera. Manual control possible?

Sometimes I will see -2, normal, +2. Other times I will see -2,-2,normal(ish) I can`t seem to pinpoint what the problem is and I`m starting to wonder if you need to take control of all the manual settings. It 'feels' as if somethings bottoming out. You said you got reliable results? Would you share ...
