Re: Machinekit crashes in config selection

Thanks for reply. I think the documentation of Machinekit could be better... You said Xenomai works faster than rt-preempt. New info to me, thanks. I remember having read the contrary on some MK board? The 'illegal instruction', when starting MK (that crashes the sw), happens because I obviously hav...

Machinekit crashes in config selection

I have Raspberry B and trying to get Machinekit running, no success. I have cross-compiled the kernel and patched it to get RT-PREEMPT properties into it. MK is configured seemingly well (?). All the libraries that the configure command requires are in place, at least. Compilation has gone successfu...

Thank you RobertR!
"Adding init=/lib/sysvinit/init in /boot/cmdline.txt solved my boot problem."

solved my problem too! :)

Re: Pi boots but USB does not work

is the 9 Sep 2014 published image still somehow buggy what it comes to USB? My requirements may not be very demanding, but I have *never* encountered a bug related to usb in any of the RPF published images of Raspbian. I have used keyboard, mouse, wifi, serial, bluetooth, gps, flash drives - all wi...

Maybe I could try that, but is the 9 Sep 2014 published image still somehow buggy what it comes to USB?

Re: Pi boots but USB does not work

About lsusb... how to give that, when the keyboard (connected to usb) does not react?

With the kernel.img that is created from default .config, it boots, and usb ports are enumerated fine, but
seemingly the inputs are not read. I.e. cursor does not move.

Re: Pi boots but USB does not work

Thank you! I tried with the default config. At least in the logs the mouse and keyboard are recognised now. Still the Pi doesn't react to them (cursor does not move). cmdline.txt: console=ttyAMA0,115200 kgdboc=ttyAMA0,115200 console=tty1 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootfstype=ext4 elevator=deadline rootwait...

Re: Pi boots but USB does not work

Seems that I'm speaking to myself...
As in the log the last line was about ethernet, I tried what happens if I turn the ethernet setting in config to off.
Result: X-session does not start, i.e booting jams.

Re: Pi boots but USB does not work

The log is taken from 3.12 RT kernel, into which I used that extracted config (which method was provided in previous message).

Re: Pi boots but USB does not work

It may be that uploading of log files seems not being allowed? I send here the last lines of syslog (the time is also wrong) Nov 26 21:17:18 raspberrypi kernel: [ 2.797234] EXT4-fs (mmcblk0p2): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. Re: Pi boots but USB does not work

Thanks for the help.
I extracted the default config file and went it through with "make menuconfig". Compiled, and installed it with modules
... no improvement.
USB is still dead.

I tried to upload the log files, not successful "The extension is not allowed."

Re: Pi boots but USB does not work

Thank you for advice!
It must be .config related issue.
I checked that image (I have that very same image as the base too), which was published 9.9.
There the /proc/ directory is empty.
I don't remember where I found the .config, but that is the root cause almost for sure.

So where could I get one?

Re: Pi boots but USB does not work

Well, I didn't mention about Pi version. It is the same thing with B and B+. Sorry, I didn't explain clearly enough... This is somehow related to the kernel, as with stock image (9.9.2014) everything works. But I need the RT kernel, that's why I've compiled own. It boots up, but bad side-effect is t...

Pi boots but USB does not work

- Image is published 9 Sep 2014 - RPi boots fine, but mouse nor keyboard isn't recognised. Kernel is based on RT_PREEMPT 3.12. I've triple-checked all the relevant kernel parameters related to USB. This is not any power issue.... power source can support 1.5A. Nothing is written to /var/log/syslog o...

Exactly same thing happens with 3.17.2 kernel!
Amazing! Over 2 years gone from the first reports. Still the same bug is there?
Can anyone provide a workaround for this?

Re: problem with ethernet

Where are the leds documented (model B+)?
I suppose this is configuration-spesific issue regardless is the cable connected or not.
"lo" is the only interface.

Re: problem with ethernet

Thank you for answers. I removed network and broadcast, and saved the file and rebooted. Ifconfig still shows only the "lo". The changes had no effect actually. I think the root cause is somewhere deeper. I've already tried to search from internet advice the past days and many people have had same i...

problem with ethernet

I want to connect my Rasperry Pi to Ubuntu computer directly by using ethernet cable, i.e. without any routers. That is unsuccessful. I've tried to configure in the RPi the /etc/network/interfaces settings as follows: auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.0....

sakis3g, PIN error

I try to connect to the internet by using sakis3g script. I had downloaded its sources from here: https://github.com/trixarian/sakis3g-source, and compiled it in RPi. I followed the instructions in the site for compilation and then launched sakis3g accordingly (sudo ./sakis3g -interactive -noprobe)....
