"indexvolumeguid"

setting up a minor server with the raspberry pi and using a usb mounted disk at boot (working flawlessly for now lol)

problem is its whacked a file called "indexvolumeguid" on there.

i dont wanna delete it without asking first, but can it be deleted and stay off or will it just keep coming back?

i dont know whats going on, but on the roll back the port was open now its closed. it seems like when those changes are made its closing the port and thats whats causing the connection reset? because i basically deleted everything in the apache2.conf and 000-default files pasted your data in, create...

had not seen that to be honest, looks like it might be missing the remote access though. if your looking to log into the pi from another network, you will need a website name and the ability to direct to it, i followed this guide http://www.instructables.com/id/Host-your-website-on-Raspberry-pi/step...

i may have found the problem,

my sudo nano /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default

only has the password file data in it for some reason.....well this is going to be fun trying to restore that entire file!

Hmm i used "where is" to search for "<Directory />" and got [ "<Directory />" not found]

thats using sudo nano /etc/apache2/apache2.conf

i can manage to make a usb hdd in ntfs mount up when the Pi starts anyway, bout the only thing i can remember to do, so just change the /var/www in the various files and all should be good then,

awesome, thanks for that, any idea how to change the default directory?

I'm currently using a 32gb sd card in a reader till i can go out n buy the 4tb hdd needed as everything is stored over multiple drives and thats just gunna complicate things otherwise.

so i can access the "it works" page from any internet enabled device!

now i just need to make a html website that will allow the searching of files on an attatched hdd and download single or multiple files at a time.....any ideas where to start on that?

been looking at owncloud but you need a domain to do it, was hoping to just use the isp provided i.p address.

hence making sure people dont end up logging into the other devices on the home network from the isp ip address.

im trying to use the following

but getting this

might have to look into samba then, but i did hear its quite hard to setup, also im looking to make the file transfer as easy as possible as the friends using it arent linux (or generally) tech savy
