Re: project for alzheimer's

oh, sorry I got crossed up, no I appreciate the suggestions. I forgot I have a few IR modules kicking around and a simple 6 button camcorder remote that I have already used with LIRC, and it worked really well, I might just incorporate it, since I already have it. :D

Re: project for alzheimer's

thanks for the responses, I guess my main objective was something that she didn't have to interact with. Just because I know where her mind is, at different times of the day, so I could just leave almost like "post it notes" that will cycle with a few other screens that contain simple info like time...

Re: project for alzheimer's

yes, that looks really good, I just don't know anything about python and it scares me off a bit, but the idea with how it gets updates by fetching emails was a solution I had been thinking.

Thanks

project for alzheimer's

She will not touch any electronics, but they have internet at the house cause my grampa uses a laptop. Anyways, shes always in the kitchen...

Re: Pi remote Lawn Mower

or you could use the relay to turn the electric motor that turns the gas motor. If your lawnmower doesnt have electric start then the pi will have a hard time with this. if I was you id be more concerned about how to kill the engine before you kill your neighbours dog.

Re: video like the RC planes

I thought of this too, theres a weight issue as well. I was thinking of trying and using a 4g connection for this, and since its already running and in the air, might as well interface the controls too.

Re: Linux Framebuffer Driver for Adafruit 2.2" and Sainsmart

I happened to use your module today to get my ILI9341 SPI 2.2 working, I thought I was dead in the water, I used this link from your git wiki http://marcosgildavid.blogspot.no/2014/02/getting-ili9341-spi-screen-working-on.html could you detail the kernel module installation more clearly? Reason bein...

Re: rtl-sdr not working - Any ideas?

additionally after the
cmake ../ -DINSTALL_UDEV_RULES=ON

run the command
ldconfig

and reboot

also, rtl_sdr has weird power behaviour and sometimes is finicky, run it off a powered hub

Re: Raspberry Pi, video transmitter

I just got a pi a few weeks ago and have been brainstorming this problem. the two things i am going to try are using a pair of linksys-wrt54g routers from the thrift shop and use directional antennas and crank the output up, theoretically if they have line-of-site it could travel over a few kilomete...
