Re: Raspberry "ripoff" from partco in finland (solved twice)

Neither Farnell nor RS sell to private customers in Germany. Farnell sends me here when i tell them i am a private customer: http://farnell.com/raspberrypi-consumer/approved-retailers.php?skus=2431426~1&countryCode=DE&COM=superwidget-link_RaspberryPi RS on the other hand has a german site, which is ...

Re: RasPi open source HW platform

It is not open source. RS and Farnell do have an exclusive licensing deal with the foundation. The foundation has not shown any interest in further manufacturers, but if you want to try you probably should send a mail. Just don't expect an answer because they do get quite a lot of email. It was the ...

Since i don't think there are any Raspbian package CDs i would guess that you try to install ARMHF packages that are not suitable for the Raspi. Which would certainly explain the errors.

Re: Request - 'Mounting hole' location relative to pin 1 of

The reason they haven't released those files yet is that they changed plans and made exclusive deals with RS and Farnell so they simply can't release them at this point in time. Which is a good thing, since otherwise almost nobody would have a RasPi by now.

I have not seen someone from the foundation answer one of these questions. Very probably because the only people who have access to these files aren't on the forums that much, and don't have the time. Therfore these two posts are probably the only official answer you will get to your question: http:...

Re: Turning the R-Pi into a parallel System

Thank you for bringing that to my attention, i had no idea about such a platform being launched anytime soon !!! The reason i asked about Pi-s "getting together", so to speak, is that the power consumption is quite low and it makes it probably more worthwhile than simply getting a GPU of 2,000 core...

Re: Multiple cameras

Since many people report problems getting even one Webcam to work reliably i would guess that 4 would be highly problematic. You can attach one camera module to a Raspberry Pi, because there is only one connector. Also the cables that are used are only 15 cm long. You could theoretically use 4 Raspb...

Re: RPi as Android accessory

I am not really that well informed but after reading a bit at http://source.android.com/tech/accessories/guide/custom.html i suspect you would need to reprogram the usb driver. Also the Pi would theoretically need to provide 500mA for charging, but if your Android Device doesn't get power over the u...

Re: Google donated 15000 RPi's to UK Schools

Since Google wants Engineers it would be pretty stupid of them to encourage a curriculum that teaches stuff that doesn't lead to more Engineers, wouldn't it? Also these 15k Raspis do not go to schools but to children who can make use of them, so it isn't even pushed on them, so your argument is moot...

The short answer is: no.
It is specifically made for their A13 Board and is not compatible with the connectors that the Raspi has.

It applies to UK companies https://www.gov.uk/running-a-limited-company/directors-responsibilities As far as I know it is the same the world over. Why run a company if not to maximise the shareholders returns? Maybe to work towards the interests of the Stakeholders. Which really isn't the same. ;) ...

It should be noted that the article states that the USB 3.0 Controller works as a USB Client. That could mean that it couldn't be used as a USB Host. Or the article is wrong/unclear. ;)

Re: Header for data pins on micro USB connector

I'm sorry...this still reads as if you think the uUSB data pins are connected to some signal on the board. So far as I know they aren't. They'd have to be wired to *something*else* on the board in order to be functional for *anything*. The proposed change was that the as of now unconnected data pin...

You will have to pay more than just the license cost, because Windows on the Pi is impossible unless we are talking about the embedded version. Which you are not talking about, so you need another device that supports Windows.

It can address 1024MB, the problem is that no one produces 1024MB POP RAM Modules. But that's just me being nitpicky.

Did you work through Chapter 11: An Introduction to Python? I think that would be a better start. rurwin has inserted another command after the fourth one, that has taken him into the python environment, which is the difference that he mentions.

The first four lines are entered in the command line and not in your python program. The fifth line is part of a python program.

What you have seen is exactly what will always happen with the RPi. The problem is that it doesn't really shut off like a PC would if you issue the shutdown command. The easiest way to boot again is to cut the power and then plug it back in.
