[SOLVED] Pi2, custom kernel 4.4.16, USB/Ethernet not working

Hi, I've built a custom kernel 4.4.16, but dwc_otg shows errors, making USB and Ethernet fail. Nothing attached to the USB ports. Power is from a lab power supply, stable. The same hardware setup with Raspbian/kernel 4.1.19 works. I have also updated the fixup.dat, bootcode.bin, start.elf firmware f...

Re: Updated kernel from 3.10.28 to 4.4.16, hdmi i2c half-fai

Okay, some more information on this. I use this code #include <stdio.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/stat.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <unistd.h> #include "i2c-dev.h" #define PCA9530_ADDR 0x60 int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { int count; int fd; fd = open("/dev/i2c-2", O_RDWR); if (ioctl(...

[SOLVED] Updated kernel from 3.10.28 to 4.4.16, hdmi i2c half-fails

EDIT: A recent update to Kernel 4.9 and newer boot files solved this problem for me. I finally have updated my own Linux distribution to a device-tree enabled kernel, 4.4.16. Smoothed out a lot of bumps on the way, however, this one remains. I have a FT5316 and PCA9530 connected to the HDMI I2C. No...

Re: Soon to buy? HDMI to 5" PCT display baseboard

Ah, there are more changes needed for that. The Pi Zero has a Mini-HDMI connector at a different position and it has way different test points on the back. Sure, it would be possible to do a layout *only* for the Pi Zero. What makes me wonder about the usefulness is the display is big compared to th...

Re: Soon to buy? HDMI to 5" PCT display baseboard

.... [*] Powered through the mounted Pi's 5V/GND test points, other power source not required. .... Will this work on 2B & 3B? I think the test points PP1 (5V), PP2 (5V), PP3 (GND) and fuse F1 are in different physical positions on B+ vs 2B & 3B? The Pi2 and Pi3 are ordered and will arrive soon, I ...

Re: Soon to buy? HDMI to 5" PCT display baseboard

Your design looks impressive. I didn't know it was possible to bring the touchscreen data back across the HDMI connector. The HDMI has a DDC (as VGA and DVI have), which is plain old I²C. Usually only the EDID eeprom sits there, but you can connect other I²C chips, too. Fortunately the Raspberry al...

Soon to buy? HDMI to 5" PCT display baseboard

Hi, for a project I made a small baseboard which piggy-backs a Raspberry B+ (and A+, haven't checked Pi2 and Pi3 yet) on the back of a 5" display. The basic idea was to have a very compact way to mount a Raspberry on a display, and that package into some hole you cut into a custom casing. I need doz...

Please just ask these things on our OWFS mailing list. We are communicative, but we honestly can't check all the places where people meet who are using our software.

USB device does not enumerate

Hi, I have an unusual USB problem. I have a touchscreen monitor which works fine on my PC hid-generic 0003:0EEF:0001.0003: input: USB HID v2.10 Pointer [eGalax Inc. USB TouchController] on usb-0000:00:1d.2-2/input0 but two Raspi B+ I tried even refuse to enumerate it as an USB device. They just don'...

Controlling HDMI CTL1 CTL2 CTL3 bits

I'm currently designing a HDMI->24Bit TTL interface board with a TFP401 for a small TFT display. It has a backlight, which I like to control at least in two steps to get night/day display brightness. Is there any way to advise the GPU to set/clear the CTL1,2,3 bits on the HDMI channel? Preferably as...

[CLOSED] How to disable transparency on non-aware app

Hi, I'm trying to run some Tcl/Tk scripts on a recent vanilla Raspbian. Of course, they aren't aware the default behaviour of the desktop is to let the background shine-through newly created windows and (even worse) widgets, too. This is very disturbing. I haven't found the right search terms how to...
