Re: Iridium Rising

Unfortunately one of our servers locked up which is why you might have been having trouble logging on recently - and I was out in the US (for work that pays...) so I didn't get a chance to look into it until now.

Anyway, it should now be fixed so let me know if you're still having problems!

Re: Iridium Rising

It looks like there was an incompatible update to the Pi Store a couple of days ago  I've just uploaded a new version with a workaround for the problem, so please Update through the Pi Store to get it working again. The workaround means that for now everyone will have the name "IndieGamerXXXXX"...

There isn't any sound right now. I'll add switching to roll instead of yaw control to the list too :-)

Re: Iridium Rising

Apologies for the slow reply to this - I've been busy with other things, but I got a chance to look at some Iridium Rising problems this weekend. We've made a couple of server fixes that will hopefully make the missions work more often, and keep the AI fighters in the melee up and running. But most ...

Re: Iridium Rising

Hi Stoick, I've never seen that "failed to add service" error before. Maybe something is already using the GPU? Are you trying to run it from within X? Do you get the same error if you launch it from the Pi Store? (Press Ctrl-Alt-F8 to see the terminal the game was launched on, Alt-F1 to go back to ...

Re: Iridium Rising

I am having problems getting Iridium Rising to start. I tried both the Indie City auto reboot method and also command line at /usr/local/bin/indiecity/.... but all I get is: Launching Iridium Rising Version: beta And that's it. No more messages, Pi seems to crash. I tried turning off overclocking b...

Re: Iridium Rising

The one issue I ran into was that when I attempted to launch it from the store it just gave errors about permissions which makes me think that the launch script(or whatever method you used to launch it) needs to be root, is this just me having this problem? What problem exactly did you have - just ...

Re: RasPi - raspbian problem

Normally if you have unmet dependencies, it's worth trying sudo apt-get update and then trying to install the package again. Because the Raspbian distro is updated frequently it is likely the missing dependencies just have newer versions now. Also if you have an older Raspbian image, running sudo ap...

Re: How to start...

As I think tmftomh pointed out on the other thread, "unofficially" you can start it by changing to the directory: /usr/local/bin/indiecity/InstalledApps/iridiumrising/Full and running: ./IridiumRising It's possible that if it's been a while since you've rebooted your Pi and you're running 64MB memor...

Good to hear people are getting into the games and fighting :D Joegi, sorry about the wireless keyboard issues - I'd like to get to the bottom of this, take a look at your PMs! pygmy_giant, we're aware an offline "practice" mode would be a good thing to have - it's something we'd like to do but it's...

Iridium Rising

Hi all, I hope people have managed to have a go at our game, Iridium Rising. We'd really like to know what you think about the game, so please reply with your comments! Unfortunately I'm already away from home for Christmas, so I haven't been able to log in and see people in game yet, but I've been ...

Re: User registration for free downloads?

Obviously I can't speak for what IndieCity might do in future, but there is no access to the user's email in the current API - just the username and a unique ID.

Re: User registration for free downloads?

For our free game (Iridium Rising) the Pi Store user registration allows us to reuse that username on our servers, so you don't have to sign up for an account with us to reserve your name. Currently in Iridium Rising that name is just used to identify you when you chat, but in future we plan to have...

Re: Iridium Rising - 3D space combat for the Pi

Sorry we had to go quiet on this - as you've probably seen by now we were lining Iridium Rising up for launch on the new Pi Store. We've done quite a bit of work on it since the original release, and future versions will be managed through the store so it doesn't get out of sync again. Apart from va...

Re: Help with GPIO program

Your problem will come from using the following to detect the button has been pressed: if not GPIO.input(11): if GPIO.input(11): You are relying on the input changing between the first line and the second line. In the output True -> False transition you sleep between the first and second test, so it...

Re: Iridium Rising - 3D space combat for the Pi

Sorry you're having trouble making it work! Are you trying to run as a user you've created rather than pi? It looks like the IridiumRising script is only executable by that user. Do chmod a+x IridiumRising to fix that. Other things to check for are making sure you have an internet connection working...

Re: Easiest Raspbian install

The "sudo" command needs your mac user login password to be able to run the command, because normal users can't access raw devices. The password is the same one you need to enter sometimes when installing software (again for the same reason, to give the program access to things on your Mac that aren...

Re: [Guide] Beginning Bare Metal on Raspi

I think I want the repo to be about creating a sort of minimal project that doesn't have a particular purpose. Quite happy to get display driver and UART and similar code in there, but I want to try and present it as generic building blocks. Then ideally people can fork the repo and use it as the ba...

Re: [Guide] Beginning Bare Metal on Raspi

Ah, that would've been handy - as you've seen I started my own version of that header file :) I'm not completely convinced doing the reads/writes through C is better. Especially with the read macro, you could accidentally end up writing to something you were reading given those READ macros, which is...

Re: [Guide] Beginning Bare Metal on Raspi

I followed Cycl0ne's instructions, and there were a few things I had to work out as I went along. I've put up a git repo with the right directory structure and instructions on how to get it all going here: https://github.com/MichaelBell/RasPi-bare

Hope that's helpful to someone!
