I would rather connect via my external IP. You mean the IP that your ISP is giving you, then you just have to do port-forwarding on your home-router. But the VPN can disturb this if its configured as the "default gateway", then the Pi might use this interface to send answers to requests coming via ...

I would rather connect via my external IP. PIA is the service and I can't locate any information on connecting back to the VPN IP. I have not tried pinging the IP and no I can't connect using SSH, although the SSH gets to a password prompt and then permission is denied with the password I would usua...

Connect remotely to a Raspberry Pi that is using a VPN

I have a Raspberry Pi that is connected to a VPN service, I can connect to it locally but I can't access it (via HTTP or FTP) externally.

My question is: How can I connect remotely to a Raspberry Pi that is connected to a VPN service?

I followed your suggestions but still no activity from the Edimax -7811UTC (AC wireless dongle). No led activity and I see nothing but the other wireless N dongle that is working, in the adapter drop down "Wifi Configurations" in Raspbian.

I am having trouble getting an Edimax EW-7811UTC wireless AC USB dongle to work under Raspbian on a Raspberry Pi 2.
