Re: Charger compatibility with the Pi 4 (Single Type C CC resistor on Pi4)

I make the SmartiPi Touch and am looking for a solution to split the 5v 3A USB-C input into USB-C/micro USB to power the official display. It looks like the Pi 4 does not read the 56k resistor and probably will not in the future. As the foundation offers the adapter and advertises 12.5 watts of powe...

Re: Charger compatibility with the Pi 4 (Single Type C CC resistor on Pi4)

My pi has now arrived so I have been able to do some tests. My blog post above has been updated with the info as well. I have checked and both the CC lines are wired up as in the schematic with only one CC resistor rather than two. I then checked several power supplies with and without e-marked cab...

From comments I've seen, the Pi has a 10K resistor at the USB-C connector and that is the "negotiation" to get 3A.
A legacy adapter to USB A has a 56k resistor which in theory tells the device to only draw 500ma. Wondering if that will limit what current the Pi4 will draw.

Pi 4 with USB A to C cable

Is anybody using a Pi 4 and powering it with an A to C cable. It is my understanding that if they are in spec they will have a 56k resistor and will force the device to negotiate for higher current over 500ma. I don't think the previous versions of the Pi ever negotiated for power as there were no d...

Re: Will the RPI 4B fit into the Official 7" tablet case?

This is Tom from Smarticase. We are working on a new case and hopefully it will be ready in the beginning of August. Our case relies on a splitter cable which would technically violate USB-C spec. We are currently determining the best way around this. There are also some potential issues with the wa...

Re: Smarti Pi Touch

I am the creator of the SmartiPi Touch. I'm glad that the case is finally getting into users hands. The reason the Pi is not assembled into the screen is to reduce the thickness of the case. Offsetting the Pi to one side reduces the thickness of the case. Compare the thickness to the SmartiPi to oth...

Touchscreen mounting screws

Can anybody tell me which size screw threads work with the four mounting points on the back of the screen?

Also, are there any drawings of the screen available?

Mirror GPIO pins

Is there a way to mirror the GPIO pin output? I need to put a hat on backwards . I believe this would require mirroring the GPIO pins.

Camera and Pi case combo

We have designed and sell a Pi B+/2 case and camera case combo kit that I think will be of use to the users in this forum. The SmartiPi is available at Smarticase.com and other sellers . It is designed to use the camera case more effectively with the Pi. It snaps on the Pi case with LEGO compatible ...

Cables for HATS

Need a little guidance here. Was going to buy the Unicorn Hat here. http://www.adafruit.com/products/2288?gclid=CO6eh8O_u8ICFY_m7Aod6yMALg Is there cable readily available that I can buy that would allow me to not mount it directly on the B+ itself? It would need to be a 40 pin GPIO cable with male ...

Re: New Pi B+case on Kickstarter

Tim,

I agree that having it snap together like Legos would be ideal. Underside Lego compatibility would be great too. But molding reliable Lego studs is difficult to do. The case will stack reliably as the underside has location features. You could then secure them together with zip ties.

I intend to add some real functionality to the case while also making it look aesthetically pleasing. I do not have specific co...
