Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

I've submitted a pull request with some new styling for the page which is a bit more mobile friendly and has a fullscreen option for the image. Otherwise great work - nice easy to install package that is very useful.

Re: Plant Friends: A plant monitor system

I've seen some of the competition on the hack-a-day site and there's no way I'm going to win but I'll probably stick it on hackaday.io when I'm finished, the code is already up on github. My original plan was to get a friend who has access to the local makespace to let me in so I can play with some ...

Re: Plant Friends: A plant monitor system

Well I'm impressed generally and would be really interested in the character designs. I'd been making my own monitoring system with the aim of it both being a code CV and also taking an electronics project from idea through to eventually making my own PCBs (I'm an electronics novice). So far I'm abo...

Re: Plant Friends: A plant monitor system

I love this project but I've got to confess one of the reasons I watched this topic was because of the wonderful characters from your first version. How come you went with the L shape rather than modifying what you had?

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

So I did a few more things... I downloaded and compiled the latest wiringPi code and gpio and pintest commands run fine showing that they recognise that my Raspi is a Rev2. The problem though at trying to run the compileandrun.sh remains the same... if it help the cpuinfo reports Revision 000e whic...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

If you do want to add status LEDs then I'd suggest you fork the project on github so the changes can later be merged in. If you use BoostMonitor.java as a template you could have the LEDs running in a few minutes. You launch the threads in BoilerControl.java (look at the BoostMonitor lines for how t...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

Thanks I've updated the documentation. If you're using the latest version then the pin state is now configurable from the database. In the database there is a field in the configuration table (if you've installed phpmyadmin you can edit it online by visiting http://<pis ipaddress>/phpmyadmin). You n...

Re: GPS Tracking of SmartPhones

You don't need a Pi for something like this just a webserver and an Android app. It would be trivial to write an app that pings a server with its location every x minutes. You don't even need to write the phone app yourself, tasker would do it fine. In fact I have a similar system on my wifes and my...

Re: Web-Schedule for Oil-fired central heating water warm up

Have a look at this thread http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=22244 My wife also works different shifts so we have to change the hot water times. Its not based on a calendar but basically we setup different groups such as day shift, night shift, off and we just activate and deact...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

I've uploaded a few significant changes to both the php and java side. The changelog is below. For now the changes are all in the sockets branch rather than the master so if you would like to upgrade check that out. changelog ============== v1.1 -changed communication between php and java to mostly ...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

Anyone had issues with the LCD displaying garbage after a couple of hours? Mine is very consistent in displaying garbage after a little while. No errors are displayed in the command line (if run on the command line rather than a service). The display returns to normal on restarting the boilercontro...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

Nice work - I'll try and get those bugs in the install fixed. Additionally I should move the "on" setting of the buttons to the configuration database rather than it being hardcoded. I'm no electronics expert but apparently its better to be default high. I have been meaning to change the interface s...

Re: Pi as time clock for pump control with web interface ?

Try this - used for controlling my heating system. It hasn't got temperature control but that would be easy enough to add.

Thanks - I am sure this will be useful. I cant seem to find the update on github. The last update seems to be 21 days ago and the CSS files were last updated several months ago. Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

Just to let you know that I've posted an update for the web part of this that gives a better experience on mobile browsers. Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

Also comparing your compiled version to my /uk/co/jayynne directory you have a 'class' file for every 'java' file. I only have a 'class' file for BoilerControl The class files are the compiled java files. You're not getting the compiled files because you have permissions problems. Copy the java dir...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

I'm not sure if this will help but you can switch to one of the other java gpio libraries very easily and they might not have the hardfloat issues. The reason for using softfloat is that the Oracle java only works on softfloat and has much better performance than openjdk. In BoostMonitor.java Contro...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

Here's a compiled version - delete your uk directory and replace it with this. The program wasn't running after that compile as ps aux | grep java would have shown it and the program runs in the foreground and outputs to the screen. Your problem looks identical to the permissions problem I have seen...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

Did you check the permissions? Try to copy the java directory to your home directory and make sure you have ownership of all the files.

You also don't need to run the command with sudo it does that itself.
